Three experienced practitioners. One shared passion.
Mosaic was founded by three experienced practitioners with over 30 years of combined experience and a shared passion for improving and protecting the natural environment.
Our backgrounds span environmental contracting, habitat management, wetland and river restoration, engineering, construction and project management. This provides us with a practical understanding of both the environmental objectives and the realities of delivering work safely and effectively.
Meet The Founders
I have worked in the environmental, construction and landscaping sectors since 1999, gaining extensive practical experience across site management, vegetation management, land clearance, landscaping and environmental works.
During my career, I have worked on a wide variety of projects in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. I also owned and ran my own landscaping company for 10 years, employing a team of six people. This experience gave me a strong understanding not only of the practical side of the industry, but also of managing people, delivering projects efficiently and maintaining high standards for clients.
More recently, I have worked on larger-scale construction and infrastructure projects, developing further experience in site management, environmental works, health and safety and working within demanding project environments.
I established Mosaic Environmental with the aim of bringing together experienced people who share the same approach to environmental work: practical, professional and environmentally responsible.
I’m particularly passionate about delivering work that creates a positive long-term impact on the landscape. Whether that involves habitat management, coppicing, tree and vegetation clearance, landscaping or larger environmental packages, we aim to work sensitively and efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
At Mosaic Environmental, we want our reputation to be built on the quality of our work, the people we work with and our ability to deliver what we say we will.
Aidan Slater
Experience across offshore work, engineering, projects and the environment.
My career has taken me through a fairly unusual mix of offshore work, engineering, project management, construction and, finally, environmental work. Each stage has given me a different set of skills and experiences, but throughout my career I've been drawn to practical work, solving problems and seeing a tangible result at the end of a project.
I started my career working offshore, gaining experience in demanding and technically focused environments before moving into engineering and project management roles. This gave me a strong foundation in planning, organisation, technical problem-solving and managing projects from initial requirements through to delivery.
I eventually moved into the environmental sector, completing an extended level 3 diploma in Wildlife, Ecology and Conservation before working as a Parks and Countryside Ranger and then as a Site Manager with a large habitat management company. My environmental work has included peatland and river restoration, habitat creation, vegetation management, tree planting and urban greenspace projects.
This has allowed me to combine my practical background with my interest in conservation and passion for nature. I've worked across a wide range of sites, managing field teams, coordinating plant and equipment and working closely with clients, landowners and major contractors.
What I enjoy most about environmental work is knowing that the work we do can make a genuine difference. Whether restoring a river, improving a habitat, managing vegetation or creating new landscape features, there is a clear purpose behind the work and something tangible to show for it.
That is ultimately why I started Mosaic Environmental, with two like-minded friends and colleagues.
I want to use the skills and experience I've built across my career to deliver environmental work that is practical, well managed and genuinely useful to the people and organisations commissioning it. I take pride in doing a job properly, working responsibly and building strong relationships with the people I work with.
For me, that means approaching every project with the same aim: understand what needs to be achieved, find the right way to deliver it and leave behind a result that both the client and I can be proud of.
Chris Wilkins
I have over 25 years of hands‑on experience in site operations, habitat management, invasive species control, and countryside work.
My career has taken me through national organisations, specialist contractors, and regional operational leadership roles, giving me a deep understanding of how to deliver practical environmental work to a consistently high standard.
I’ve spent decades leading teams, coordinating contractors, operating plant and machinery, and delivering complex site‑based projects safely, efficiently, and on time. From forestry and ecological restoration to invasive species eradication and multi‑site operational management, I’ve built a reputation for reliability, clear communication, and strong professional standards. Health & Safety is central to everything I do, supported by extensive training across SMSTS, CPCS, NPTC and other operational certifications.
What drives me is simple: doing good work that genuinely makes a difference. Whether restoring habitats, tackling invasive species, improving public spaces, or supporting clients with safe and compliant site operations, I take pride in delivering outcomes people can trust. I’m straightforward, hands‑on, and committed to maintaining high‑quality workmanship across every project.
Mosaic Environmental is built on that ethos — honest work, strong standards, and a passion for creating and maintaining healthy, sustainable outdoor spaces. We may be a small company starting out, but we bring decades of experience, a proven work ethic, and a genuine commitment to doing the job properly.
